“The modern age has forgotten that facts and information, for all their usefulness, are not the same as wisdom—and certainly not the same as the direct experience of Reality. We have lost touch with the intuitive wisdom born of silence and stillness, and we are left stranded in a sea of information that cannot deliver on its promise of ever-increasing happiness and fulfillment.”— Adyashanti (via alteringminds)
“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, “Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner.” I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”—
“There are some oddities in the perspective with which we see the world. The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be, but we have done various things over intellectual history to slowly correct some of our misapprehensions.”—Douglas Adams (via we-are-star-stuff)
“I am myself. That is not enough.
The fever trickles and stiffens in my hair.
My ribs show.
What have I eaten?
Lies and smiles.
Surely the sky is not that color,
Surely the grass should be rippling.”—Sylvia Plath, “The Jailer” (via radiumangel)
“There are 7 billion people on this planet who I have not met,
and 195 countries I have not visited.
Yet I am stuck in this insignificant town,
Being pressured into making decisions about my future,
When I barely even know who I am.”— Unknown (via psych-facts)
That awkward moment when there’s all of a sudden mice in your house and you realize your number one irrational fear is a mouse scurrying over your feet or up your pant leg or something so you go out and buy mouse traps and then cry as you set them and then 10 minutes later realize being in the kitchen washing dishes and looking over and seeing/ hearing a mouse run eagerly towards a glob of peanut butter only to have its neck snapped and die is a much more terrifying and cruel thought so you throw shoes at the traps until they go off and then you wash the peanut butter off your heels and remember in the pit of your stomach exactly why you became a vegetarian in the first place and contemplate what better use 7$ could have been put to….. Yeah…..
“Someday, someone is going to look at you with a light in their eyes you’ve never seen, they’ll look at you like you’re everything they’ve been looking for their entire lives. Wait for it.”—Unknown (via morningsuns)
So if we have to show women what the baby looks like in their womb and tell them how the process works before allowing them to get an abortion, does that mean we should teach our soldiers about the culture of the lands we’re invading, and explain to them that the people we want them to kill have families and feel pain, just like Americans?
“'You' can never be lost. What can be lost is your way of thinking about yourself, your identity with limitation. It is the conditioned mind that says, 'I’m lost.' Let mind be lost. Lose your mind. Lose your mind inside your Heart”—Mooji (via mimi-said)
“Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping.”—Hubert Reeves (via sweetcheeksaremadeofthese)
the fact that people are like “Coca Cola supports racial equality, I’m not going to be drinking Coca Cola anymore” and “Google supports gay rights I’m not going to use them anymore” like what next “the Earth provides Oxygen to ethnic minorities I’m going to stop breathing in protest”
When I was 10, I was so sure in my mind I wanted to be an actress and my only fear and doubt was that I would never be able to “fake-cry”
10 years later, at 20, I have no fucking idea what I want to do with my life, or the next day, ever and I have to force myself not to think of things back home and therefore cry for no apparent reason.
